Showing and telling are both tools. The trick is knowing when to use each.

Telling is she was sad. Direct, fast, efficient.

Showing is she sat alone, staring at the wall, her tea untouched. It takes more words but lands harder.

Use telling for transitions. He drove for hours. Nobody wants the whole drive scene.

Use showing for the moments that matter. The emotional beats. The turning points.

Most beginners over tell. They summarize emotion instead of dramatizing it.

Here is the rule. Tell the boring parts. Show the important parts.
